Student Support

  • Per Board Policy 5131.2, the district shall provide students with instruction, in the classroom or other educational settings, that promotes social-emotional learning, effective communication and conflict resolution skills, character education, respect for cultural and individual differences, self-esteem development, assertiveness skills, and appropriate online behavior.

In order to promote a positive climate and culture at our schools, the following programs and instructional materials are utilized: Welcoming Schools, Toolbox, Character Strong, & Common Sense Media. We draw from these materials to create learning experiences that address diversity, equity, inclusivity, anti-bullying, and digital citizenship per the California FAIR Act and Board Policy.

We are conscious of providing age-appropriate and developmentally-appropriate lessons and activities that meet all of our students where they are when addressing diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our goal is to work together as one community through this practice. We encourage you to reach out to principals and teachers throughout the year if you have any questions or would like further information as we support our students in this important work

As we navigate through our return to in person school five days a week we want you to know that we are here to support your child.  We teach students explicitly what it means to be safe, respectful, responsible and kind while on campus.  We call this the “Willowside Way.”  We are a team to support your child’s academic and social emotional progress and want you to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
