About Technology at OGUSD
As the digital world becomes increasingly ingrained within all facets of our lives, Oak Grove Union School District offers our students opportunities to familiarize themselves with the tools that will be necessary to succeed in that world.
The Technology Services Department provides a streamlined and integrated learning experience through the application of Google's Workspaces for Education ecosystem, allowing students and teachers to connect and share progress, work and other information easily and across multiple different platforms. In addition, the district utilizes Clever; a unified identity platform that provides a secure, single-sign-on portal for managing licensing and access for additional third party educational resources.
All students are provided with the technology necessary for their grade levels to succeed in the classroom. Oak Grove Elementary students are provided with devices in their respective classrooms, while Willowside Middle School students are provided with take-home Chromebooks to access online resources. Access on these devices is heavily filtered both on and off campus for students' educational benefit and security. Chromebooks are the best available hardware platform due to its affordability and streamlined integration into the Google Workspace ecosystem, allowing our tech team to easily manage, track and update the devices remotely on an as-needed basis.
While the student ecosystem revolves around Google Workspace capabilities, classroom ecosystems integrate using Apple's ecosystem. All teachers are provided with a MacBook laptop and an iPad, both capable of wireless projecting to an AppleTV system mounted in every classroom. All certificated staff are provided with a laptop, while other classified personnel are provided with whatever equipment is deemed necessary to perform the function of their position.
