2020-2021 Parent Information

  • August 17, 2020

    Dear OGUSD Families,
The 2020-2021 school year has arrived! We have been planning and preparing all summer for our new instructional models. As a reminder, we will be in Distance Learning to start school on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
Due to COVID-19, we are providing online opportunities to complete and return all the forms that traditionally go home on the first day of school. You can visit our website to download and complete the necessary forms. We have included the revised Distance Learning schedule, important school information, and forms that need to be completed for the start of the school year. Lunch applications should be completed online and submitted even if your child does not participate in our lunch program. Many new funding opportunities that are available to schools are based on the number of qualifying applications. Please help us get the most for our students and support our schools. If you need assistance completing any of the forms or applications, please contact your school’s office staff. Even though we will be attending school remotely, there are several attendance requirements. Our academic programs and schedules have been adjusted for distance learning. Students will need to login daily for direct instruction and daily interaction with their teacher. Plan on approximately 90 minutes of daily, synchronous (online) instruction along with assignments that will meet th instructional requirements in SB98. Specific class and grade level schedules will be posted by site/teacher.  Our educational program continues to be strengthened by our fine arts enrichments. Funded in collaboration with Oak Grove Education Partners (OGEP), our program includes music, 2-D, and 3-D art as well as movement that will be offered virtually. We are very proud of our OGUSD achievements and many are due in part to our excellent staff and outstanding community involvement. Our challenges over the past year have increased our ability to be flexible and creative in delivering our academic program. I want to thank you for your part in helping us prepare for a great school year. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your classroom teacher, principal, and/or district staff. We are here to help!
Finally, be sure to stay current on school events and activities by visiting the district website at www.ogusd.org. Our paperless communication includes up-to-date newsletters and fliers to keep you informed.

    Take care!
